One of our engineers is having a problem installing SQL Server 2008 R2 on a Windows 2003 R2 machine. When we click on setup.exe the installation wizard doesn't show up. Is this because Sql Server 2008 R2 cannot be installed on a Windows 2003 R2 machine? Thanks!
Scroll about 25% down the page to the section starting with "Core Server Editions (64-bit and 32-bit)". Scroll down from there and find the edition of SQL server you are trying to install, paying attention to the 64/32 bit stuff. Also note that you cannot install SQL Server 64 bit on a 32-bit operating system.
