Can anybody tell me? How to mix spot colours (two or more) in Adobe Illustrator 8.0.

For example I want only two colour output for printing.

Let there be a simple rectangle. I want to fill it with 10% of some spot colour and 40% of some other spot colour. Can it be done in Illustrator.

I know for printing purpose I can use simple process colours e.g. 10% cyan and 40% magenta.
Only thing is that I want to see the mixing result on my screen also (without proofing the actual colour on paper) i.e. WYSIWYG
Is it Possible. Please help?

its called overprinting. Look in your Attributes Pallette for two checkboxes marked Overprint fill and overprint stroke. Fill your first box with 10% of the desired spot color, copy it and paste in front then fill it with 40% of the other color. Then in the attributes pallette check overprint fill for the top object only.

Well! I think I should make it more clearer.

Actually, I want to fill the same object (say rectangle) with two different spot colours. And I want to see the mixing result on my Computer's Screen. (To save the colour proofing cost.)

I don't want to overprint any plate.I want to use two spot colours to be printed at different angles. So that I get a third colour. And I want to see how this third colour will look on my Computer's Screen. (Without actually printing on proofing it). To save some money, of course.

I know that in gradients you can use two or more spot colours, but then that is different thing.

Im afraid there is know other way to fill one object with more than one color. Illustrator 9 will let you see the combination in the Overprint Preview if you build it with the meathod in my last post. I wish adobe would let you use more than one spot color in a multiple slider fashion like CMYK works. We'll just have to cross our fingers.
