I haven't seen anything in the Fireworks help section about adding sound. I know you can add sound in flash. Am I correct in assuming you can not add sound in Fireworks? And if yes, is there any way I can take a nav bar, created in Fireworks, over to Flash and add sound there?

Thanks in advance.

I've just started tooling with Fireworks over the last two weeks. So there Nippi, do you know whether or not you can add sound to a .png file?

Hello chinaski!

You may not add sound to images created with FW because neither GIF, JPEG nor PNG file formats support sound...

But you may add sound behaviour later using DreamWeaver (if you have one). But in my opinion the best results with sound compatibilities you may get only with Flash.

Good Luck!

Thank you very much EugenePaliev. It's people like you who are willing to take a sec and talk to a newbie that make this site so cool. I do have Dreamweaver, and I hadn't thought of adding sound there. But now I will.

Like You and Nippi said, Flash can do a better nav bar. But it seems like everybody at the small college which I attend is trying to learn Flash. They know that Fireworks is a Macromedia product, but they don't really know what it does, nor do my teachers. So if I can fake them into thinking that I know all these Java Scripts, I'll be set. Set to change my identity six months after I graduate so the loan collectors don't find me.

Sincerely, I thank and am genuinely grateful for all constructive comments or criticisms that come my way.

Hi again!

I said that the best solution to use sound is to use Flash because it will be played in all browsers on all platforms for all user who have Flash player installed. BUT... I wouldn't recommend to create Nav Bar using Flash because it will be shown only for users who have Flash player.

I know that most users now have it installed on their computers, but not all of them. If you want to create Hi-Class sites you must think about all of your users!

And moreover I wouldn't recommend to use sounds with Nav Bar. But what I really would recommend - to create all your Nav Bars using TEXT, just plain text. Plus CSS. You'll get excellent results if you play with text and CSS! And don't forget that text will be shown on EVERY browser in the world (on PC, MAC, UNIX, text-only browsers, mobile phones, etc.) and it is as easy extendible/editable as it only could be!!!

:) Good Luck! And know - You are always welcome! :)
