It seems like when my employees send out email the times are different from real time. The time on their email is ahead. I believe I am supposed to sync the clock, but don't know how. I get the event id 5. I have exhausted the internet for a solution. The error below:

The kerberos client received a KRB_AP_ERR_TKT_NYV error from the server CLOSING1$. This indicates that the ticket used against that server is not yet valid (in relationship to that server time). Contact your system administrator to make sure the client and server times are in sync, and that the KDC in realm HRZBLAWYERS.LOCAL is in sync with the KDC in the client realm.

I had an issue once with this and I found out that the Workstation time was an hour off because the Time Zone was wrong. I changed the time zone to the correct time zone and the Time Stamp case was solved. Maybe do the same thing on the server end? <shrug>.

I dont know if that is what going on here, but I thought I'd throw my small & limited knowledge into this pot.

I hope it helps.

The default maximum time difference between the authenticating domain controller and a client is 5 minutes, regardless of timezone (it's easiest if the time zones are the same). Set the time on the impacted system to within 5 minutes of the DC, reboot and they should both be sync'd up by the W32Time service.

Here's how time is obtained in 2000/2003 environments:

1) DC with PDC FSMO role obtains time from the internet (configured by administrator)
2) All other DCs obtain time from PDC FSMO role holder
3) Member Servers and Workstations obtain time from authenticating DC

I'll check on one of my systems tonight to find whether Outlook or Exchange set the "sent" timestamp.

Exchange stamps the message when it hits the Outbox. It also stamps the timezone offset on the message, so the relative time is correct no matter where it is read in the world. I would suggest verifying the time zone and daylight savings settings on your client PC's.
