Hi guys,
This is my first post in this forum hoping some one could help me. Here is my problem;
We have a HealthCare client. They have asked us to create reports in Excel by accessing data from ACCPAC advantage series. They are using postgre database. They actually already have Excel sheets with all the rows and columns formated as rewuired. They received these sheets from Government. Now basically we just have to access the data from ACCPAC and show in the right field. I hope you guys understand the problem. You can ask me for more info if not. I am familier with database concept and ODBC stuff but I have never done ACCPAC stuff and now I have to do it for some reason. I would really really appreciate it if someone can help me with this and probably save my job. My boss making me do this.

Thanks a lot all of you.

My lord, how did you get into a situation like this? Are they really going to fire you for not being able to do something you obviously have no training or background in? If so you probably don't want to work there anyway.

I am not all that familiar with ACCPAC, but I would use a crystal report to pull the required data, in the required format. This should not be too difficult, provided that you know the ACCPAC data tables.

If you don't know the ACCPAC data tables, and no one ele at your place of employment does either, pick up the phone and call an ACCPAC consultant. Spend a few $$$, solve your problem.

Definitely. Call an Accpac consultant. That's what companies without substantial internal knowledge of administration or customization of their Accpac (or, heck, any other business software, really) do! If you don't find someone here you might be able to work with, the Accpac web site has a search utility that can help you find someone with the skills you need and/or in your area (though the skills are more important, given that any tech worth their salt can do most anything you need vai remote access.)

Pulling data from ACCPAC is simple since the ODBC is already set up for the clients anyway. The ODBC name is unique for each company, though, so you'd have to find out what the name of the ODBC connection is.

Furthermore, you'll have to know where your will be pulling the data from (AR, AP, GL, IC, ???) and then you can begin searching the corresponding tables. All the tables in the ACCPAC system start with the letters of their corresponding modules. ARCUST for example is the table containing all the customers for the AR module.

In any case, you should definitely get yourself familiar with ODBC and the ACCPAC database first before you start pulling data out otherwise you could potentially damage the ODBC connection on the client machine.

Aside from that, i would recommend getting a hold of consultant.
