Hi all,
I have recently been asked to take on management of our Mitel MiVoice Business setup and so far so good as this is all new to me.
I have been asked to change our main numbers menu system, currently someone phones in and gets three menu options to direct the call, each of these option is a VM Mailbox set up as a Transfer Only type. Mailbox 1 goes to extension *6001, Mailbox 2 to *6002 and so on.
I'm slightly confused as to what the point of the asterisk * is and don't seem to be able to find an answer. Is it possible for me to just change that if I need to, to just some other extension I need without the asterisk?
Many thanks.

for embedded voicemail , redirecting a call to *ext is normally used to put the call into the mailbox for *ext
you will probably find that *ext is assigned in the MIVB as a nametag/trusted/huntgroup which is rerouted to the voicemail pilot

check in the MIVB and see if you can find anything numbers with *ext

If I never did anything I'd never done before , I'd never do anything.....

Always good to run a locate number in maintenance to learn what it is
