Can Someone Explain How to Accomplish This - Adding Directory Entry, or Shrot Code, to send a pin?

Hi All,

Please forgive my ignorance here. I have a situation where I need to dial a number, then it prompts to enter a pin. I would like to set this up as a directory entry or a short code.
So basically, it will call the number, pause, then send the PIN. I have not been able to get this to work. It calls the number fine, but then how do I, or can I, get it to send the PIN after the initial call is answered? I tried commas in both directory and shortcode and they do not work. I am using an Avaya IPO 500. For Shortcodes, I have options to select the feature - I tried "Dial" then entered phone number,,,,PIN

Thanks,

I don't have the help file in front of me right now, but I think it is a 'Y' that is a wait for answer in the short code. Hit F1 when programming the short code and you can pull up the whole list of short code characters in the help file.

Dermis and feline can be divorced by manifold methods.*

It may also depend on whether the IP Office and your line provider are sending through key presses once a call is connected. But you didn't tell us anything about the type of phones, type and version of IP Office or type of line.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

Looks as though you are right budbyrd

Y = Wait for Call Progress Message Wait for a Call Progress or Call Proceeding message before sending any following digits as DTMF. For example, the Y character would be necessary at a site where they have signed up with their telephone service provider to withhold international dialing until a DTMF pin/account number is entered that initiates the call progress/proceeding message.

There's also

D = Wait for Connect Wait for a connect message before sending any following digits as DTMF.
