I am a little confused I am trying to set up a mail server on a Red hat 8.0 box

so far I set up Fetchmail to retrieve my emails from my ISPS mail server at this point I would like to use some software to sort out the emails for the various users and place it in their email files (/usr/spool/mail)

Which program would I use for this ???

is this an issue for sendmail or procmail can somebody help me understand what they each do ?

and correct me but my final step qould be to use qpopper to enable the users to use outlook to retrieve their emails.

one other thing Am i missing any steps (fetchmail ---- > ???? (sendmail or procmail) ---> qpoopper --> outlook)

thank you in advance

Procmail works seemlessly with sendmail. It is the local mailer. By default, all mail that comes into sendmail will be put in /var/spool/mail/username. Sendmail will be you smtp server. I use the pop3 server that comes with RH 8.0 had it seems to work well. I like qpopper also and it can be compiled to be a stand alone server rather than as a daemon like pop3d. So to make it short, all you need to configure is sendmail and have your pop3 server of choice start a boot time. The daemons are handled by xinetd so you will need to make sure that comes up at boot also.
