Can SNMP be used to set Active Directory passwords?

I can't seem to find any documentation on what the included snmp agent is capable of.

Are you saying that Active Directory comes with a SNMP agent?

MS has never been big on SNMP, the default Windows SNMP agent is fairly basic.

Why do you think they included an agent?

Well, the servers have an agent, and I've seen some "aftermarket" agents for Windows servers as well. But documentation on what the agents can do seems strangely light, or non-existent. So the question is whether these agents can make AD changes or not.

I think the default MS agent comes with MIB-II support and Host Resources support. Neither of these

You could always try to to a snmp-walk on the MS agent that is installed.

Then look up values that something to do with AD.

This could be tedious though.

Once you have a name or OID of an object. google it and try to find the MIB it was based on.

Study that MIB and look at what is can do.

I suspect that if MS included an agent it would not allow you to configured AD, just monitor it.

But I have been wrong before.
