I have created a report (ACCESS2002) which displays each record on two lines; the first line normal text fields on the second line a memo field. If the memo field is empty a blank line is shown in the report. To prevent this I have set the properties can thrink (and also can grow)of both the detail section as the memo field to yes. But stil blank lines are shown. How comes? Is another property overuling this property?

Hi.

A simple solution is to make the size of your memo field paper thin, and set can grow to yes.

That way its always tiny unless something is there.

I am always skeptical when someone states a can shrink text box is "shown" when the value is null. Try display the text box border and see if it shrinks to nothing or stays full size.
