Can send email to a certain domain

Hi, one of my clients cannot send email to a specfic domain. They will receive an NDR stating "could not deliver the message in the time limit specified. Please retry or contact your administrator. <domain.com #4.4.7>"

If I look at a header email from a user that is trying to contact this domain, I can't seem to find anywhere in the header that tells me the emails origination. I guess I am trying to figure out if their reverse dns records are setup correctly. Is there anyone that explain to me how this needs to be setup or point me to a document that can help me? Thank you.
 
from outside the environment, if you do a ping -a for the public IP address they send email from, what comes up?

Plan for performance, and capacity takes care of itself. Plan for capacity, and suffer poor performance.
 
Go to MXToolbox.com and run a test on your own domain. After the initial report of your MX records, run the PTR test and see what it comes back with. If your mail goes out from the same server that receives it, this test should be accurate. The PTR report there will tell you whether you have an RDNS record in place, and what it is.

Also, as Pat said, if you do something like this:

ping -a 121.53.65.72 (use your server's IP)

it should resolve to whatever the PTR for your IP is. If it doesn't resolve, then there's no PTR, but usually it will either resolve to a name in your domain or a name in the ISP's domain.
