Hi,

I have two groups of pcs using ip address 10.0.0.x and 10.0.1.x. The pcs are mostly win9x and in all cases I have tcp/ip and netbeui installed. One pc on the 10.0.1.x network is a winME pc and can see the other pc's on that local lan but when I browse to network neighborhood and click on entire network it can't see the other 10.0.0.x lan. I've checked tcpip and bindings and can't figure out why I can't see other lan. I can use UNC to browse to the other pcs on the 10.0.0.x lan.

Each lan uses a different workgroup.

Any ideas on why the ME machine can't see the other lan?

Thanks for any help

Use System Restore in Windows Me and set a restore point that is new.

Use the same, single protocol for File and Printer Sharing on all computers.

Assign all computers to the same IP subnet.

File Sharing must be set in Windows before the network recognises it.
In Network Places delete shortcuts to your current network places.

Check the Network Components. The following network components must be enabled on each computer in your workgroups and domains:

File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks: (FPS)

Client for Microsoft Networks: (CMN)

Go to Control Panel | Network, double click the TCP/IP‑>Adapter entry for your local area network, and click Bindings.
Put check marks in the boxes for FPS and CMN

Reboot all computers after adding changes.

In Windows ME Computer and workgroup names don’t appear unless you create a shortcuts to them.

Route once; switch many
