Hi there
I have been told by a suposely UNIX guru that SCO UNIX does not take advantage of having 2 CPUs in the server, that the addional cost of the extra CPU and license is not cost effective because SCO UNIX doesnot works that much better with the additional CPU.
Is this true?
Does the addition of an additional cpu and multiprocesor license makes a good investment?

Thanks

Joe

PD I am refering to SCO UNIX 5.0.7

This really depends upon your load. If you are running CPU-intensive applications, then you might benefit with the additional processor.
In our case, the main application is very disk intensive, so we advise our clients to spend the extra money on fast disks.

Back in the 486/50Mhz days, the story was different. But now that modern hardare is 3+ GHz, I haven't found a need for dual processors.

Hope This Helps, PH.
