I have a customer who has SBS 2003 r2 installed with 5 user CALs installed (came with server). They now have 7 users and are awaiting 5 additional CALs from their reseller (who is out of stock for about 10 days while awaiting delivery). Can they exceed the 5 user limit temporarily whilst they are waiting? Or will the server only allow 5 users? Is there any lee-way?

At present they have 2 users as administrators and they want 5 users logged in as employees as well (employees use the same username/password).

This is never a good idea. All users should have "User" permissions. As for advice on exceeding the user limit, I believe this is against the policy of this board. MS licensing requires a license for every user, even if MS ungraciously makes you buy 5 when you only need one or two.

I wasn't going to get around having to buy the licenses (which they have now recieved). The question was more of a what happens if they go over the limit whilst waiting for them. Anyway it's a irrelevant issue now.
