So I had my phone guy in here and we configured or fax server to recieve incoming faxes. Now my problem is I can not send from it now. I can see the messages hitting my fax server but they are always coming up busy? Any buddy have any configs or pointers on what to look at in ip office to make sure i have my settings right?

I am by no means a phone guy but understand ip office enough to do this with alittle help.
Thanks allot!

extra info:

brooktrout board and gfi fax maker....

You could use CallStatus to see if the Fax server tries to dial anything when sending the fax.

Could be as simple that you need a 9 or 0 for line and the Fax server isn't sending one, or vice versa.

i tried adding "dial a prefix" and used 9 on my fax program. that did not work.

I can not see it trying to dial out on my call status. not sure why i wouldn't see it there?

any suggestions....

Is it plugged into an analog port?

Has the port been given a user with dial out privileges?

Are you using different users for different boxes?

Is the port set to DTMFF?

Need more info.

yes port is set to DTMFF
yes it is analog

dial out privlages?
there is a short code in the user that says
code: ?D
Tele: N
Feat: Dial
Line: 6

what else?

all users are on the same box? not sure what you mean by that.....thanks for all your help!

go to user
tab telephony
is outgoing bar checked ?

use monitor to see what happens when you try to send a fax
also use a normal analog phone and try to dail out
try internal and external
make it yourself as easy as you can get it

the outgoing bar checked atleast let me see action in call status.

i see the fax line now dialing extension 223, im trying to fax to a number starting with 223 so it doesn't get past that.

my phone guy had a user rights group built for faxes and tried using that and i get the same thing, extension 223 being dialed. should i try anything differ?

thanks for all the input.

get rid of that shortcode if you need a 9 to dial out. That shortcode if for hotline. Were you using that analog port for something else?

no that analog port was for nothing else. i don't want to dial 9 to get out but i guess i can try getting rid of all of the short codes....will test and post.

that short code did not work :(

i see that it is trying to dial out but cuts off real quick and never conects the the fax?

what do you use now as your shrt code to dial out on the digital phones?

i have 0 short codes listed in the users to dial out....

only in certain users do i have them so i can send digits across for caller id purposes.

if outgoing bar is checked you can't dail out
uncheck it
get a normal analog phone and use that to dail outside
if that work a fax should work too

took off the outgoing bar,
but now when i go to fax, and try to fax to a local number it trys to dial that extension.

is there a short code to get around that or anything?
thanks

i dont get it
what do you mean by local number ?
how many digits is your dail plan ???

actually i think somehow i just figured it out?
i had to dial a 9 to get out? sucks but oh well, works now!

thanks for all your help.
