My redhat 9 server is connected to the internet on a static ip. I can recieve email from hotmail but can't send to internal or external addresses. Im using sendmail-8.12.8-4 and squirrelmail-1.4.1-2. My firewall rules include ACCEPT tcp -- anywhere anywhere tcp dpt:smtp so I know the port is open but still cant even send to other users using the mail command.
Any help please.
Thanks
Dan

look for the line in the sendmail.mc file that is forcing sendmail to listen on local host (127.0.0.1) and put dnl in front of it. The recompile sendmail using the m4 preprocessor.

the only place listed in the sendmail.mc file is DAMEON_OPTIONS and is already commented out with dnl. it is listening on my static ip address and recieving but just not sending.

Mabey Im confussed, Since my server is running apache and all users access their mail through squirrelmail is there any relaying going on?
Won't sendmail send through the same nic it is listening on?

Sorry Dan, I know very little about squirrelmail and I don't want to point you in the wrong direction.
However if you run sendmail -v -q you will see what exactly is happening when you try to send out going email.
