On a new Compaq with XP Pro, from a command line I am able to ping by ip and fqdn. Also able to telnet and ftp. However when I try to Open a web page I get web page found but no page opens. Also, when I try to use terminal server client to one of my terminal server machines I get the intial response of the address drop down at the top but that's it, it hangs before I get log on. This is on a cable modem with no router. I have reinstalled IE6 and also tried removing the registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/System/CurrentControlSet/Services/Winsock2, as was suggested in some other forums, but this did not work either. DNS is not an issue as I am able to resolve names, DHCP is ok as IP, Subnet Mask, Gateway and DNS are all updated correctly from an ipconfig /renew command. There is no personal firewall installed. Any thoughts?
