I would start by searching for sdk information about the iphone. I'm sure there are forums dedicated to iphone app development which would also be a good starting point.

if the app is a web app designed for the iphone, then it's all just html. CSS will be your biggest challenge, the back end doesn't matter.

if your building a local app for the iphone, my guess is you have to use apple's iphone sdk.

Actually I did a bit of research and found you can just make a WEB site or page to do what you want. then just go to that WEB page. The Iphone can surf any page. it even connected to our server using Remote desktop and we ran a MS access application. Access is loaded on the server and there is alink on the server desktop to the database which is our timehseet program. it all worked just fine. We have another WEB page that has clinet reports in pdf it opened pdf as well. There is a login page, we logged in, then picked a report and bingo it showed on the screen, it zooms and pans so you can read anything. The Iphone is nothing but AMAZING!!! it eliminates a laptop and camera and everything else you carry. and fits in your pocket! The pocket computer has finally arrived.
