Just to extend my question futher , if i add a DVD Drive
to my system , would i be able to retain the already present CD ROM drive . Can i have both of them on my system . ?
Yes, and if you only have one hard drive, you can also add a burner.
If you get an add-on card, you can run up to 8 more IDE devices (depending on card). Cheers,
Jim
Yes two drives are fine! don't forget to set one to master and the other to slave using the jumpers on the rear of both drives.
Put the DVD on the same ribbon cable (IDE) as the CDrom, they usually have a piggyback connector a third the way down the cable for this purpose so that two devices can be run on one cable.
When the computer is booted plug and play will auto detect the DVD player (if not enable plug and play operating system in the bios) get into the bios usually by pressing the delete button during the first stages of boot.
Then load your DVD player software.
