Thanx to TekTips. GREAT site. Very useful info. Real Experts answering questions. Impressed. Thanx again.

Did search this site for solution, nothing!

Using FPW26 for long time. Wrote Program myself.
Have to use ProComm Plus for In/Out faxes. Do not know any Communication programming.

ProComm has to 'open Win Appli. Retrieve docs. convert to .fax, and then fax.' Somehow can not do that with FPW26.
Maybe FPW is 16bit, or does not have DDE or other problems. ?ProComm can ony use Win Appl. that r 32 bit?

When I try to fax (print to ProComm driver), foxpro comes up with 'printer not ready'.

Other Fax programs work, can print/fax thru Quickink etc.

Also post this on ProComm Forum.

Thanxx.

Based on a quick search of eBay, it looks like FoxPro 2.6 was a 16-bit product since it ran on Windows 3.1. I found this note regarding faxing from 16-bit applications in the Procomm README file that may be of use (note you will likely need to add the [options] section to the end of PW5.INI):

* There are some known problems when using DDE printing with 16-bit applications. You may experience a General Protection Fault in the application that was initiated via the print process. If this occurs, increase the value for the setting FaxDDEDelay in the [options] section of your pw5.ini. In many cases, this will solve the problem.
However, if this does not work, you will need to initiate the send process by printing to the Procomm Plus Fax printer driver from the desired application.

One more tidbit I found in the readme:

This value, in milliseconds, defaults to 1000 and causes Procomm Plus to allow more time for third party applications to respond to printing requests.

Tried: Did add to Procomm's ini file FaxDDEDelay=1000
Also tried with 2000, 3000
Does not work.
Still get 'Printer not ready'
Maybe it is FoxproW problem. Will repost on that forum.
REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR EFFORT.
Any more ideas?

You might try increasing FaxDDEDelay to 10000. Also, can you fax from other applications successfully with Procomm (based on comments in your original message, I think you can).

Tried with FaxDDEDelay=10000 and 20000. Did not work.
The message i get is Foxpro 'Printer Not Ready' Does that sugget a Foxpro problem or ProComm?

Someone suggested Adding delay in sys.ini, in [enh386][options]. Can not create subfolder in [enh386].

Can fax from word and other win apps.
Is there a command to make ProComm 16 bit compatible or a command to make it DOS compatible?

Thanks for all the help

There's no way to get 16-bit compatibility in Procomm unless you acquired one of the older versions (3.0 or later) and installed that. If other apps can fax OK, I would say it's an interaction between Foxpro and Procomm, but can't diagnose the problem any more than that.
