Can one control result of depressing F1 F2 etc with Delphi 6 1

During the dark ages [circa 1982]and programming using Sharp 3201 FDOS one was able to designate a result from depressing [say] F1 etc to result in [say] the words "Cheques deposit" into a particular field. Can this be done with Delphi 6?
