I have a W2K Prof Laptop, I need to hook up to the Internet via LAN, by accident, I entered a DNS server address, now the option "Obtain DNS server address automatically" is greyed out, how can I get it back to select this option.

Thanks,

If you have the IP written down, reselect obtain IP automatically and then DNS will go to obtain automatically.
Reselect to Specify IP and at that point you should be able to specify a DNS Server.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the reply, as soon as I check obtain IP address automatically, the box "obtain DNS Server automatically" becomes available, but for whatever reason this PC will not connect to the network without an IP address. All other PC's don't need any configuration.
I'm clueless why sometimes I have to put an IP in and on some I don't.
Any ideas.

I've seen this with w2000 occasionally, usually when "re-configuring" from manual to auto detect.

Usually a Reboot after setting to Auto will solve.
