About 6 months ago we bought a HP 750 printer/scanner/copier all-in-one. Using win 98 and the drivers that came with the printer, everything worked fine. The computer was able to send and recieve info from the printer. (for the 750, Hp has this little program that sits in the sys tray and tells you teh status.)

Since then, we have installed 2000 on the machine. Now the computer is unable to talk to the printer. The printer is detected fine (USB), and we've installed the latest drivers from HP (excluding the HP drivers-on-hp-cd for $10).

The little program which sits in the system tray says "HP PSC DISCONNECTED!!". Using photoshop or similiar, twain trys to connect and says "scanner not found".

We can open up HP's 'direct' software and push the scan button. We then get the 'Unable to connect to scanner' error.

I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling the drivers, installing the latest USB patch, etc.

Anyone have any ideas? I did find one small location where USB double buffering was mentioned.

Any soulutions? I'll post a reply if I fix it.

Thanx,

I seem to have the same problem. When I re-install the psc 750 everything works fine. I can scan, print, no problem...
But after I've rebooted my pc a proces called "HPODEV7" uses 99% of my cpu and after a long time it says that the pc was not able to connect to the scanner.
When I stop this proces, my pc works fine but I can't scan.
(again because there's no connection)
Printing however doesn't give any problems???
I've used the latest drivers and patches and use
windows 2000 as OS.

Does anyone out there know the truth behind this problem?

Here is what our company did, and it solved the problem:

Installed XP on the machine. Apparently 2000 dosn't support the correct drivers for the printer. Now everything runs fine.

note: we switched our whole office to XP, and this was just a side effect of that.

Don't ask me why 2000 won't work. I have no clue :(

Hope this helps!

I would like to keep W2K on pc because it's running fine
(except this problem of course ;))
and I don't have the time to re-install the entire computer

Hopefully there are other solutions :)

Anyway thanks for the help!

I've installed the service patch 3 for windows 2000
and now the scanner seems to work.
I still have to wait 10 min. after startup
before the scanner is recognised by the computer...

So this seems to be a solution,
but it's not perfect!
