Please help!!

We have a Seagate Info 7.5 Server and Crystal Reports (designer module) 8.0. Although we set the server up, with assistance froma Crystal Decisions consultant we have never used the Info Server (NT 4.0) properly until now, and we are now encountering problems, see below.

We have several groups set up on the Info Server, some groups determine what areas of the Info Server (folders) groups members can see, other groups determine what operations the groups members can perform.

We are able to see different folders depending on what user we log on to the Info Desktop as (and in turn what groups and with what rights), and we are able to schedule reports successfully. However, we are unable to save reports to the APS, we get the following error message,

"Saving report on Info APS failed!"
"Check with administrator about your write priviledges on APS!"

Please advise on what actions we can perform, or test we can perform in order to overcome this problem.

Cheers

Does this occur when you attempt to schedule a report to a specific location or when you write a report and attempt to save it to the APS machine so that it can be added to the desktop?

If this occurs during scheduling then the User ID that is currently logged onto the APS machine itself does not have the necessary level of privileges to write files to 1)itself or 2) to the specific folder.

If you are attempting to place a file (from your machine, for example) into a directory on the APS then it is your user id that doesn't have the necessary level of privileges.

My guess is that the APS machine is currently logged in as an account that doesn't have write privileges.

Either way, the message was pretty clear (as far as Seagate Info error messages go). You need to speak with your NT Admin.

Hope this helps.

Hi MarkAA

I would check the "Info Administrator" to make sure the user has the appropriate rights. Another way to check is make the user an Info Administrator (just for test purposes)with full rights and see if he can save the report to the desktop. If he still can't, then it's a NT issue. If he can, then he currently does not have the "Info" right to save reports to the desktop.

Good Luck....
