I am trying to run Symantec AV and it wouldn't run. The message says "Another scan is in progress. Your scan will be queued if you want to continue with the scan".

Where the scan queued? Can I see the queued list? How to make the computer to run the program again? I know that nothing is running when I tried to run AV.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Do a Control, Alt and Delete to bring up the task manager and verify that RTVscan.exe is running or not. If it is, then indeed a scan is already going.

RTVscan is always running as a process, whether there is currently a scan in progress or not (at least, with a managed client).

Try rebooting.

I did reboot the computer. The same message appears after the rebooting. I have even tried to run scan from server and got the same message. Any other ideas??? Thanks.

I have found that if it's just one or two PCs with problems it's quicker to just re-install the product rather than attempt to troubleshoot it. I have also found that it's best to completely remove the previous install instead of trying to install over the top of an existing instance.

Look up document ID 2003100807214613 on Symantec's Knowledge Base. I know this article is not the problem you're experiencing, but it details all the steps needed to completely strip Symantec products from a PC including any Registry edits needed.

Good Luck.
