can not read DOC file after get from SUN server using FTP

hi,
I use ftp login the Sun 5.8,
use command "get", get a DOC file from server to local PC.
when i use word(office 2000) open it: error display:
the document name or path is not valid,try these suggestions.*check the file permissions for the document or drive.*use the File open dialog box to locate the document.
I've check the path and permissions all right, but still receive this error message.

is any one meet this problem before?

Lorie18,

Your file was corruted doing the ftp transfer. When you ftp you should always change
from ascii to binary. This is done simply by typing bin and then typing get (file name).
ftp your file again and should be OK.
