can not open XSD file in IE 6?

Hi I am unable to open a xsd file using IE 6. It can be opened on one server and on another server I'm unable to open it. Your help will be appreciated.
The sample file looks like this

<xsd:schema xmlns:xsd=" <xsd:element name="FirstName" type="xsd:string"/>
</xsd:schema>
