Can not log into Portal Site

I just installed Sharepoint Portal Server and created a portal site which is running fine. However, on the web server, when I go into Sharepoint Central Administration and then into List and Manage Portal Sites, I click on the site I created. Then I get prompted for a username/password, but I am unable to login.

If I go to

http://www.domain.com/portalsite,

I am able to log in fine. I can also login to the site from my development machine through Frontpage.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure you go to extended mappingsin the Central admin.
