I have Belkin 54g ADSL modem wireless router. 1 Belkin 54g USB adaptor and 2 Safecom 54g USB adaptors. 2 PCs running Windows 2000.

I have configued the router and USB adaptors and with 1 PC switched on it works very well. But when I switch on the second PC, the first PC carries on working, but the second PC keeps trying to establish a link then says the cable is unplugged. It will keep trying this again and again.

I have tried various combinations of the adaptors and each time the first PC to switch on works (it can be either PC) but the second keeps dropping. Once in a while I can get both PCs working on the network but not very often.

Has any one come across this behaviour before and found a solution?

I am using DHCP and WPA-PSK and MAC address filtering. Have tried turing DHCP and MAC address filtering off.

This behavior sounds strongly like two PCs trying to use the same IP.

Be certain there are no static IP assignments, or that they are completely unique. Check the manual - many routers dislike a static IP assignment made within its DHCP scope.

I have found that switching the router off and back on allows both PCs to connect ok. It seems to me that when I switch a PC off the router does not know that the PC is no longer connected and when I try to reconnect, it refuses the reconnection because it thinks there is a duplicate machine. Have set the router to clear DCHP leases after 30mins but router still shows the switched off PC in the client list after that time.

I have moved the DCHP range up to 100-110 just in case there is another machine that is messing my router about but unlikely.
