Can not connect to the partner ACS unit via PC admin

I am trying to use the pc admin tool to program a Partner ACS, but I am having difficulty connecting to the unit. Every time I tried it give me a message that reads: "check that the port exists or is it in use by another program.

Any ideas or how do I connect to this unit?

You've either got the wrong COM port assigned in the Partner Admin software, or there's some kind of software "hook" or driver (perhaps a palm pilot or such thing) that's already grabbed it.

Any chance you have a second copy of the Admin software running? How about ProComm, Hyperterminal or other communications software? Maybe you're using a computer that's conveniently near the PBX that's busy capturing SMDR data. I could guess all day. Do a little investigating and post back, please.

Are you using a laptop with an internal modem and wanting to connect using an external modem? If you are, you will need to disable the internal modem for it to work.
