I upgraded my laptop from ME to W2k(Format, clean install), now when trying to connect to the network with IE I get no connection.

I have verified my set up with Insightbb and they say my settings are correct. The obtain IP and DNS automatically settings are checked and DHCP enabled.

I can ping 127.0.0.1 and that works, however when I check the Local area connect status it shows connected at 6MPS but no packets sent or recieved. The ipconfig/release command gives Error: NO ADAPTERS bound to TCP/IP.

I am using an SMC USB/Ethernet convetor.

It worked this before the change to W2K Pro, what am I doing wrong??

In the network properties, are the boxes checked beside "Client for Microsoft Networking" and "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)"?

Also, if you open up the Network and Dial-up Connections window (right-click My Network Places > Properties) then select Advanced > Advanced Settings you will see the bindings for TCP/IP and your network adapter.
