Anyone had the problem of the analog device not being able to break the dialtone reliably when using an 8x24 w/5.1 software and ATA2's? I just switched out a CICS with an 8x24 and both of the external ATA2's now can not place calls (even internal) about 80% of the time.

On the CICS I believe though I am not sure. But in station programming you have to set it up as an ATA.

Thanks for the response but this was not an upgrade to a CICS, it was a change from a CICS to the larger but older 8x24 with 5.1 software. The original CICS system worked just fine. The vendor I purchased the 8x24 from told me they have never heard of this problem.

What are you using on these ata's?? There was a time when I was having trouble with the ata2 not recognizing all the digits dialed from my ts 21 butt set. I would connect a modem and all was fine. I don't recall the ksu version though... How old are these ata's??

The ATA2's ae being used for a cordless phone (which also has the problem) and a Point of Sale (Credit Card) machine. The ATA2's are probibily about 5 years old. I was testing the credit card machine ATA2 with my TS-21 but was using a cordless phone to test the other one. Same problem with both units. I am going to temporarily install a 6x16 and see if I have the same problem.

Heathbus,
When setting up ATA2s for POS machine with a DR5 you need to do the following set for tones off, program two intercom keys and:

1. Go into Admin, capabilities, set abillities, set (ATA),
step next until you get to hotline;

2. hotline none - change
3. extrnl
4. show
5. extrnl # (change)
6. F78
7. next
8. Use prime line (change)
Use line___
Pool Code___ (9 etc)
9. Next - rls

When programming for cordless phone use, set for two intercom keys, tone ON and prime line as you choose.
This should solve your problems.

Thanks Arr, I'll give it a try. I previously moved the POS from station port 37 to 44 and that seemed to solve the problem. It may now work because of the programming you described was not right on port 37.
