Can not Backup Winnt files

Hi,
Can any one advise why the Winnt folders could not able to back up? Backups neveer complete - it always show 30% or 70% finished and fo;;owing logs registerd in the log.

Use a filter in arcserve and remove these files from backup....

These files cannot be backed up because they in use. 'Standard' backup software cannot backup open files. You have a few choices, stop the services linked to the open files before backing them up or use backup software that has an open file add-in or exclude these files from being backed up. You only exclude files from backups that aren't important

This means I can not backup winnt files eve though the backup program is made for backing up the Operating system?

The perf files are 'disposable' and can be happily excluded with a filter.

The WINS database should be backed up using the facilities provided by WINS, which will give you a closed copy of the WINS db which ARCserve can then backup. Even with an Open File option, the value of an open WINS db is questionable; just because it backs up, doesn't mean its useful. Open file options are most useful for typical user data files, rather than system databases etc. In my experience, the Open File option available for ARCserve is quite good, within these contraints.
