Hi

I have a dds3 tape (12Gb) that was new last week. I run a differential backup on the tape and it backed up 600Mb. No on the following Monday BackupExec don't want to append to the media and asks if I want to overwite the tape.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Perhaps it has something to do with the way the Media Set is defined. If you go to your Media Set and open its Properties, what is the Append Period set to? We usually set it to "Infinite - Allow Append" because it isn't useful to us to have some kind of append protection, only overwrite protection I can see as being useful.

thanks for that. I was 'misreading' the way Append Period works ... D'Oh ..... I was think that having it set to 6 days meant that the tape couldn't be appended to for six days ... not that it can only be used for six days.

thanks for your help.
