Our sales team has a Mitel 5000 quote prepared for a customer that will be replacing a Nortel system. The users on the Nortel system use "Voice Call" frequently. To use Voice Call, the user presses Feature 66 (I think that's the feature code) and the set that is being called answers immediately on speaker phone so that the two parties can have direct two-way conversation. In the IP Office, you setup a short code similar to this: Code: 7XXX Feature: Dial Direct Telephone Number: N.

I am aware of the fact that out of the box the internal calls on the Mitel 5000 answer immediately on speaker and essentially do what would be needed, however, when System Forwarding Paths are added to extensions, it takes the default functionality away. Is there a flag setting or a feature code on the 5000 that will accomplish this?

If you enable "Fwd Call Type - IC Calls" in an extensions system forwarding, you will automatically lose handsfree on Internal Calls, by design. Setting IC calls to "no" in sys fwd will give you handsfree back on that call type. I usually set all call types to yes in sys fwd, except CO Recall & IC Calls. I also set busy to "no" so they can have the option to answer a second call when on a call (waits for no answer timer).

It would be nice if there was a feature code that could invoke this. Thanks for the response 619Tech.

I would not use SYS FWD on IC calls; being an internal call, if no one answers, the caller can just call VM and leave a msg in that MB. Without SYS FWD on IC Calls being used, users can just use feature code 319 to turn Handsfree on/off as desired.

If you have Ring Intercom Always set to No which is the default setting and vo VM on internal calls.

Every internal call will be a voice call straight through the speaker.

Unless you dial a # before the internal number, then the call actually rings the handset.
