Greetings! I have a Merlin Magix connected to an IPO via tie lines. Can the Auto-Attendant on the Magix send calls to stations on the IPO, if I have transfere only boxes built in the Merlin Messaging ( 2.5 )? I am getting a ring after transfer by Merlin Messaging, but it is not ringing on the IPO phone. I can call from any stations on the 016 analog card to the IPO. ANy ideas how to make this work?

You will probably need to un-restrict your Voice Mail Ports, and also allow them to do Trunk to Trunk transfer, plus, you will need to change their ARS restrict to something other than ZERO, usually 3.

That should resolve this issue.

Thanks, MerlinMan. Could you tell em where I would find all this in programming, please?

Got it, Merlinman. It works like charm. If I leave the VM ports unrestricted, is there any chance of someone breaking into the system and calling Bum City, Eqypt?

Thanks again,Quaz

Actually no. I googled Bum City Egypt, and there is no such place.

However, someone could, with enough knowledge, set up a transfer to some other legit LD location.

To prevent that, the VM Ports would need to be set to TOLL RESTRICTED.

But, most likely, they are already assigned to DISALLOWED List 7 which pretty much does that for you.

Of course, I recommend that you double check that yourself, just to be sure.

You should also make sure your messaging PASSWORD is not default so that a bad boy (girl!) WITH KNOWLEDGE couldn't get to it so quick and easily. Phone geeks going postal and trashing vmail systems...Oooo noooo!
