Hi,

I has one question on MD BC11 system.

Can MD automatically notify user when ISDN30 is out of service.

Any info is welcome.

Thank in advance.

There are many ways. There will be an alarm. Its either visual or audio. Operator call also see if there are alarms. Lastly, user cannot call out. Are you working in MD110?

Mr Patcher, maybe the site doesn't have an operator. Also, the ISDN 30 can have an alternate route enabling the users to dial out.If the exchange isn't in a manned building,an audio or visual indication will be no use.
The alarm output of the MD110 can be extended to an auto dialler that automatically dials out to a network management centre/maintainer office on receipt of an alarm. There's a piece of kit called a Tracker that does this on all sites that my company maintain.

This is what I meant, there are alarm system in MD110. You had to invent what you will do on this alarm system. You can even use your LAN connection via AAU if you dont have NIU. MD110 can auto print all new alarms in the system. SO, everytime there is an alarm, MD will send the data from IPU/IOU or even NIU through AAU to the LAN up to the main output PC or terminal which is manned for 24 hours. //patcher

The easiest way i think is to use an ALU2 board.

This card is designed to receive and send alarms.
It has relays which are activated in case of alarms.

You can use the ALAPI command to initiate an automatic alarm output on the IPU/NIU. You then connect that to a Tracker modem and set that to autodial a terminal of some sort. As long as somebody regularly checks the terminal you will see the alarms as they are generated.

Tigerlow66 - What is your situation? Is this a remote site? Main site? Are you present on site?

What Tigerlow66 asked was about the specific instance of an ISDN30 going out of service.

An alarm will be raised if the 2MB link is lost but will not necessarily show a fault if the ISDN30 is taken out of service by the supplier. All the channels will show as blocked on a BLFDP print but no alarm.

Auto dialers and SNMP agents will not help here.
