i'm cutting and pasting a webpage that includes a "mailto:" hyperlink in the form of a shape (see attached sheet). I need to anchor the shape (and thus the hyperlink) to the cell underneath the shape and then extract the hyperlink name. Seems simple enough but I can't find the method to do so. thanks in advance for any suggestions and help!!

hi,

Shapes are not related to ranges. Shapes are related to worksheets.

You can set the properties of a shape to move and size with cells or not.

Skip,

They are related to ranges via TopLeftCell and similar properties...

Dim objShape As Shape
Dim objWorksheet As Worksheet

Set objWorksheet = ThisWorkbook.Worksheets("Sheet1")

For Each objShape In objWorksheet.Shapes
If objShape.AutoShapeType = msoShapeRectangle Then
MsgBox objShape.TopLeftCell.Row
End If
Next objShape
