Can I wire an ATX PSU (externally) to work on Dell Dimm 4700C ?

Hi,

I've studied the PSU (160 watt)wiring on my 4700C and of course it's proprietary.
Would like to purchase ATX and re-wire to work on the Dell 4700C. I would mount the PSU externally due to room restrictions.
Just not sure if all voltages, including VSB and POK wires are available on ATX, that will be 100% compatible?

Two things:

1. this is actually NOT a VIDEO issue... so wrong forum...
correct Forum would have been: forum602

2. it is a standard ATX connector, minus the white wire (-5v)...

Yeah - all the recent (last 4 years) Dell's that I've seen are standard power supplies.

-5V missing but not needed

Hi, sorry about the mis-post. My machine's a 2004 and it is proprietary wired from what I can find on it.

Thanks for input, its appreciated. Just put it back together after re&re four 1000uF25v Caps. Now I want to install a needed video card, but need 250Watt minimum to make it fire.

160 watts total doesn't cut it and I won't chance the slimline 270 watt alternative, so I'll go external with a min 400 Watt if I can wire it.
btw, I made a video of the actual cap replacement if Tech Tip wants it. Just in the middle of editing it.
