I need to modify the maxperm from default 80% to 50%. What I plan to do is: vmtune -p 20 -P 50. Also Edit one entry in the /etc/inittab:
vmtune:2:eek:nce:/usr/samples/kernel/vmtune -p 20 -P 50 >/dev/console 2>&1

My question is whether I could run the vmtune command online -leave the application and database running? Or I need to stop all the application and database. After the change, I also need to reboot the server?

Thanks a lot!

Hi ,

You can do this without stopping and starting the application , but as you have listed need to put an entry in inittab or rc script to start this after a reboot/shutdown

What version of Operating system are you running?

if you are rinning AIX 5 , the vmtune command is phased out
by the vmo and ioo command
smit path is :- smit TunVM
