Hi All,
I think I know the answer to this but need clarification.
Five years ago I set up a SBS Server to use the Exchange Server part to handle the company's email. That server is now getting too slow and overburdened so I intend to relieve it off its email duties. Having purchased a new server I have installed Windows Server 2003 Std Edition - in order to have this one on the main domain [companyname]rather than a standalone, and want to put Exchange Server 2003 on it to collect our email from our ISP. The Domain of the SBS server was, e.g. mycompany.com and so email addresses were user@mycompany.com. That server will still remain on our subnet so to avoid confusion the new server has to have a different name and obviously resides in a different domain, as it's not SBS. I have set it up as a second DC on our main domain [companyname] but want to continue using the old email address to save changing company letterheads and business cards etc. The domain is companyname but I want to use @mycompany.com as the email address.
Can I stipulate the address at user setup or do I have to configure the preferred address as a primary and thus demote the default one?
