I have a VB 6.0 app running against SQL Server 2000 that calls a couple of CR 8.5 rpt files using p2soledb.dll.

There have only been 2 users of this app, so I simply had the rpt file on each users c: drive, no problem.

Now the app is to be deployed to >20 people and I don't want to have to ensure that the rpt file is always going to be on each client machine (expecially with any revisions that may be needed).

Question: Can I have the rpt file on a network drive and have multiple users executing it? Or am I going to have to ensure that a current version of the rpt file is on everyone's machine?

My development environment is not set up to test multiple users. Any suggestions/help is appreciated.

I am trying to keep deployment cost down and CD is very proud of CE.

Any idea if running the cr over the network would work?

Hi

We are using Crystal Report in Intranet applications. We have placed the rpt files in the web server and dynamically creates pdf from these rpt files. We are using CR 9 and with this we get 5 RDC user license. It means that the application would work for 5 concurrent users.

I am not sure but i think that you can place the rpt files into a network shared directory and do the work

I see no reason you cannot have your rpt files in a server folder and call them from your VB app.

The CR object merely reads the rpt specs into the CR report object, so no conflicts occur. Editor and Publisher of Crystal Clear
