Can I use Outlook Express for internal mailing. I tried to configure it from a client machine after creating a virtual SMTP server on Windows 2000 server. But Outlook gives a wizard for internet mail and it doesn't list SMTP as incoming mail protocol which is the case with my SMTP virtual server where I am using SMTP for both sending and receiving mails.(Tell me if I am wrong here.)

Tell me if I can use any other mail client for internal mailing. If Outlook can be used then let me know how should I configure it.

Quick answer please.

They can both be used..

You just gotta ethier choose SMTP or POP3

Outlook defaults to SMTP and Express goes for POP3, but they can both be altered.. I guess I don't understand your problem.. Are you just trying to setup an email client on the same net segment as your Exchange server? If so, I don't think even a brick wall could screw that up.. no offense buddy..

If I understand your post correctly, you cannot use SMTP to receive eMails in Outlook Express. SMTP is a Server to Server protocol.

POP(3) is a mail collection protocol - initiated by the client to the server.

Easy thing to do here - Argosoft Mail Server runs on NT, is free at the low end and cheap at the high end.
Or use Win2K3 server which has a POP server as well as SMTP.
