Hi Folks,

Very new to this stuff so please be gentle. Is there a way to set up a generic mailbox that multiple users can access from their own phones (mostly M7208's). For example, we have 3 customer service folks. If they each have their own mailbox associated with their own extensions would it be possible to add a 4th mailbox for general customer service messages that they can all have access to?

Thanks for any help.

-John

Mailbox 100 is usually setup as your general delivery mailbox. You access it by dialing feature 981, *100 and the password.

I tried to log into the general delivery mailbox as executone described but when I dial feature 981 it goes directly to the password prompt without giving any opportunity to *100 as prescribed.
Also, I would prefer not to use the general delivery mailbox for this purpose and several function (accounting, customer service, purchasing) specific mailboxes available. I have been able to set up mailboxes like this but have been unable to access them because when we dial feature 981 we get dumped directly to the password prompt without being given any option to select a mailbox.

??

Thanks executone

After you dial feature981 then press other or the * key you should then see log: you will then enter 100 + the password for this mailbox. That should work for accessing any mailbox from any phone. Where 100 is insert your DN.

Out of manual for flash: When a mailbox is assigned to a Norstar telephone, the display always shows the Pswd: prompt. To reach the Log: prompt, press OTHR or •

Good Luck!!

Exactly!
The voicemail knows which ext is calling it and does a mailbox look up to see if there is a mailbox assigned to the ext. It prompts for the password for convenience sake. Remember * will always back you up a step. So to log into another mailbox simply press * to get back to the log prompt. You can then enter any maibox number and password. So just create another mailbox, when it asks you for an extension number just press # to go past it and not assign any particular ext number. To create a mailbox:
Feature 983
Log: 1020000, press OK
Press MBOX
Press ADD
Dial mailbox number desired
Type Subscriber: Press OK
Ext: dial the extension number if it has one. Dial * if this is to be a guest mailbox.
Service Class: Dial 1, press OK
Name: using the dial pad, type in the name
Directory? Press Yes or No
Msg Waiting? Press Yes or No
Outdial: none.
Release, hang up.

User should now log into the mailbox using 0000 as default password and initialize the box.

On a 7208 they do not have a two line display and therefore cannot see the OTHR button. MRoberts
