I have an option 11 system, and we have been using ground start lines on it for the past 5 years.
The system says that you should use ground start lines on it, but it says that you can use loop starts.
Is there a problem with using loop start lines instead of groung start?
I can buy loop start lines alot cheaper than ground start.
What are the dangers of using loop start?
Disonect supervision? ,,,?
Thanks for any advice you can give.

DISC SUPY IS DEFINITELY A YES, IF YOU GO LOOP START EXPECT TO BE MANUALLY RELEASING YOUR TRUNKS. AND IF YOU HAVE MERIDIAN MAIL YOU WILL BE KEPT BUSY

perrys right, as usual.. start type lop also causes "glare".. dial 9 and get an inbound call.. because pagging trunks are by default loop start i use a forced timed disconnect which bypasses the need for disconect supervision.. before i set tfd timer to 120 sec, the overhead page locked up maybe twice a week, so that is one every 20 or so times... another problem is dial a number, get a busy, do a flash instead of a complete hangup, that loop start trunk will stay busy forever, or until you disu/enlu the port... yes they will work, but they are never a good way to go... another thing, they love to hang around midnight, or 6:00 friday afternoon

I agree with all the above, but if it is that much cheaper then you can go with Loop Start and get a Loop to Ground start converter for the lines. I myself have not used one but other Techs that I know have and they said that they work for the DS. Maybe someone here has used them and can verify this. Also have you looked into a T1 service because depending on the number of lines you have that might be an option.
