Can I use HP LTO drives on IBM RS6000 P671 server?

I have a Dell 136T tape library with 2 HP LTO tape drives and wish to attach either the library or just the HP drives to the IBM RS6000 P671.
cfgmgr -i (with the AIX 5.1 CD in) does not work, does anyone know of any drivers available, or a work around?

(I understand it will work with TSM, but unfortunately this is not an option for us).

I hope that you've resolved this issue by now, but if not then the problem lies in the dip switch settings on the drive. I would advise to call HP Customer Care 1-970-635-1000 and speak with one of the agents and they will be able to assist you in determining the correct settings.

This is the dip switch config for DAT drives on RS6000:

IBM RS/6000*
1 On
2 On
3 Off
4 On
5 On
6 Off
7 Off
8 On

I am unsure of the settings for your drives as you did not specify a model number either. Best bet is to call HP
