can I use Acrobat Javascript to Catalog/index files?

Hey there,

I have an app(java) that currently uses the Adobe Catalog.exe from version 4.0, that creates and index of my pdf files. After 4.0, adobe took out the executable and replaced it with a plugin for catalogging. I guess I am wondering what the best solution would be for migrating to acrobat version 7.0? I havent been able to find an opensource api in java that includes indexing pdf's and catalogging, and the api from adobe is in C. So, can i do this in javascript? or is there an api out there I can get, in java preferrably?
