This might be a very stupid question to ask but here it is. Is there way to use barcode reader and ASP ?

I am a web programmer but I have one client who wants a vidio librarary store software with reading barcodes ... I suspect barcode readers come with some software but would I be able to plug into it via ASP ?

Thank you

If you get a keyboard wedge scanner then it connects to the keyboard port on any PC. So any application running on that PC can scan a barcode into any data entry item on that screen.

So to answer your question all you need is a keyboard wedge scanner.

look on this site.

Just to clarify, a keyboard wedge scanner inputs data as keypresses, so a barcode of 123456 when scanned acts exactly the same as typing 123456 into your keyboard.

You can as well program the scanner (see the manual), to enter a TAB or ENTER command after it scans a barcode, so it would enter 12456 TAB or 123456 ENTER, to tab off the field or press the submit button on a form

So if you get a wedge scanner you dont have to do much extra work at all :)

That's great after all it's not as scary as I thought :)

Thank a lot!
