Can I take record totals to another record?

I'm new to Filemaker and I'm using the Business Productivity Kit downloaded from Filemaker's site. I want to take the total dollar amount of all invoices for a specific day and put in a report. I can get a report of each contact for the day but I can't seem to get a grand total. Is it possible and how can I do it? Thanks for your help!
