Can I save thumbnail size photos for reuse?

I need to display 20 thumbnail size photos on a form. At present it takes almost a second to convert large photo to thumbnail size using the "Strech" method for an image. The time needed to display a full form of photos (which I have previously displayed) is intolerable. Any ideas ?
